[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Another humiliating performance with the bat and ball saw Sri Lanka suffer a 9 wicket thumping in the 2nd T20 against Australia in Gabba.
Sri Lanka made three changes from their last match. Avishka Fernando, Niroshan Dickwella and Isuru Udana were in for Bhanuka Rajapaksha, Oshadha Fernando and Kasun Rajitha. Malinga won the toss and elected to bat first. Mendis was the first to get out through some lethargic running between the wickets. Dhanushka Gunathilaka played some expansive strokes in his short stay at the crease. He perished once again trying to come down the track against the tall Billy Stanlake.
Kusal Perera started off well with boundary off the first ball. He looked to be the only batsmen who was settled in the crease but he chopped one to the stumps off Ashton Agar, leaving the lions in deep trouble. Cummins, Stanlake, Agar and Zampa shared 2 wickets each as Sri Lanka scrapped through to a modest 117 runs.
Sri Lanka desperately needed some magic from the slinger Malinga. He gave the Lankans a glimmer of hope when he found the edge of Aaron Finch in the first over. The glimmer didn’t last long as Warner and Smith steadied the ship with ease.
The pair was cruising and showed no remorse towards the struggling Sri Lankan bowling unit. Both crossed the half century mark and got their team over the line in the 13th over of the game.
The third and final T20 will be played on Friday at the MCG.
