SL U19’s shine on drawn test against Bangladesh

All four days of the game were affected by rain as the match only lasted 132.3 overs. The visiting young lions won the toss and elected to bet first. Skipper Nipun Dhanajaya led from the front as he top scored with 67 runs. Dunith Wellalage, who is making a comeback to the squad made a valuable half century in the middle order while Sonal Dinusha played a composed innings of 58 runs.

For the hosts, Ashraful Islam was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3 for 83. Sri Lanka managed to post 331 runs for the loss of 7 wickets before they decided to declare.

The final day was affected with rain once again. Bangladesh were put under immense pressure through some disciplined bowling from the young lions. Young slinger Matheesha Pathirana who is representing national side for the first time was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 13 runs.

At stumps, Bangladesh U19’s were 145 for 6 in their first innings.
